About
Forty years of systems that had to keep working.
Legacy Parity is led by German Kolenov, a technology architect and principal software engineer with a PhD in Applied Mathematics.
German started on IBM System/360 and 370 mainframes in the 1980s, writing software in COBOL, FORTRAN, PL/1 and Assembler, as a research engineer at the Cybernetics Institute of the Academy of Sciences, where he published about 20 scientific works on distributed and parallel optimization.
Most recently, as Technology Architect and Principal Software Engineer at Precisely (2021 to 2026), he modernized COBOL applications into scalable AWS architectures and built cloud-native microservices with Java, Python and C++, AWS Step Functions, Docker, Terraform and GitLab CI/CD.
Before that, he spent 20 years at CEDAR Document Technologies as Senior Application Architect, building enterprise document transformation pipelines (XML, AFP, EDI to PDF), high-performance distributed C++ systems on Windows, Linux and Solaris, and secure digital signing and verification systems based on PKI.
Earlier roles include building a PKI-based XML signing subsystem at Netcertainty, delivering Ukrainian language proofing tools for Microsoft Office under contract with Microsoft as VP of Software Engineering at PROLING, and aeronautical mapping and flight-simulation software at Aircomm Systems.
Why this matters for your project
- Fluent in both worlds. Mainframe COBOL and batch on one side; AWS, containers and infrastructure as code on the other.
- Security by background. Two decades of PKI, digital signatures and document integrity work.
- Rigor by training. A mathematician's habit of proving, not assuming, is the core of the equivalence-testing method.
Legacy Parity is a service of Gamma Quest, Inc., based in Cumming, Georgia, working with clients across the United States.
